The future of energy will find that artificial intelligence will become an integral part of its structure. AI has changed the way that many companies are operating by saving time and increasing efficiency. From small companies to large, many are reaping the benefits that the technology is bringing.

1. Improving The Supply Chain

Companies that are using technology to automate steps in the production process see tremendous benefits. The process is saving both time and money.  GE using it to increase efficiency by five percent in their wind turbines, while NEXTracker is utilizing the tech to improve their solar production by six percent. The renewable fronts aren’t the only ones seeing the advantages; machine learning is being tested to forecast future needs, which will reduce energy waste, saving money in the long-run. Workers will work hand-in-hand with AI; the technology can even make recommendations to employees on how to change operations to diminish emissions.

2. Improve Consumer Usage

Artificial intelligence will be used to predict and adjust how homes utilize the energy they receive. To many in the industry, the fact that the power grid is facing challenges due to high demand comes as no surprise. AI is set to help ease that burden and help homes more efficiently by adjusting energy in the house and community when required. For example, in Switzerland, a technology called Gridsense is being used to ensure that the grid is operating at peak performance. It adjusts consumer energy usage and coordinates energy generation in the area. DeepMind has created its own technology to do something similar, Google data centers have seen a 15 percent reduction in power usage.

3. Increase Worker Knowledge And Protection

With the ability to think comes the possibility of being able to warn customers of disruption or changes. The AI if it senses weather anomalies can alert workers of the problem and also tell them when the network needs maintenance more efficiently then employees can predict. The system can also warn of physical intruders that do not belong on the premises. An example of one of these would be tower mounted robots. They can use non-lethal methods to stop the threat safely; this would be done with the help of high-intensity lights, strobes, and noises. AI would be able to alert workers of potential risks faster than a human can because of its ability to process a large amount of data more quickly.

AI is the future of not only the business world but of the energy sector and other power-based systems. It will help protect the power grid lines more efficiently and will reduce waste and increase efficiency. When we build new energy structures, the technology should be integrated for easy application.
